Trump Calls Loved Ones of Shot Guard Soldiers to the White House
Former President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has invited the loved ones of a Guard member killed last week to come to the executive mansion.
He added that he conversed with her family and they were “heartbroken”.
Information on the Tragic Shooting
Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a violent incident on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her comrade, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.
Vigils across the state have occurred in their memory.
White House Offer
The commander-in-chief explained he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both members of the state National Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor her,” Trump informed journalists. “And likewise with Andrew, recover or not.”
Community Response
Community members came together over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to remember Sarah.
Both they had been serving with the state guard as part of Trump’s government program to assist policing efforts in Washington DC.
Paying Tribute to Sarah Beckstrom
“Sarah was the kind of student that educators hoped for. She behaved with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a positive energy that lifted people around her,” the principal, the leader of her former high school, stated to the press. “She was caring, compassionate and always ready to assist people.”
Service arrangements for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.
Legal Actions and Policy Changes
Authorities have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with a charge of homicide and charges of assault with intent to kill while armed.
The incident led the Trump administration to pause asylum applications and halt issuing visas to holders of Afghan passports.
Condition of Wolfe
The airman, a resident of Martinsburg, enlisted in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, per the AP.
He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia leader the governor mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi informed the program that she also intended to speak to the family.
Impact of Sarah Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County high school in 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a law enforcement officer with honor, according to the state guard.
“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had fortitude,” he told the gathering at the vigil. “Though her life ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to last forever.”
