Former Doctor Accused of Assault Charges Against 38 Patients
Legal authorities have announced that a ex- doctor stands accused of carrying out sexual assaults against 38 victims who were under his care.
Details of the Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
These allegations come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Charges
Prosecutors outline the 45 charges he is charged with:
- 15 counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
