Actor Denies Anti-Vaccine Views Following Lending His Voice To Disputed Pandemic Documentary
Liam Neeson has provided his vocal talents to a recent film that casts doubt on the efficacy of vaccines and commends one-time government figure the political figure.
The Documentary's Contentious Basis
Called "Plague of Corruption," the project is based on a bestselling book co-authored by a disgraced researcher, who became famous during the global outbreak for assertions that Covid was linked to a problematic version of the seasonal immunization.
Her collaborator, the executive producer, has penned books with conspiracy-prone media personality a known commentator. Heckenlively wrote online praising Neeson's role in the project.
An Unequivocal Denial
The team of the actor have provided a comment strongly denying claims that he holds anti-immunization sentiments.
"Many recognize that unethical practices may occur within the pharmaceutical industry, but that must not be conflated with opposition to vaccines," the response explains. "He never has been, and remains not, anti-vax. His extensive work with the global charity highlights his consistent support for global immunisation initiatives."
It continued that the actor had no hand in the project's messaging and that concerns about its claims should be directed to the producers.
Major Themes Within the Film
According to the documentary, the voiceover provided by Neeson makes several strong statements:
- It suggests that pro-immunization voices have called for "blind obedience" to public institutions.
- It argues that "research has become dangerously influenced by politics."
- Kennedy is interviewed saying, "The big problem with vaccines is that they just aren't adequately tested."
- The narration takes aim at stay-at-home orders, claiming they caused severe distress that led to the loss of thousands of lives.
- Regarding Covid vaccines, it cites a view that they were "hurriedly approved" and seen as "hazardous tests."
Historical Controversy and Current Disputes
The documentary further cites a past television report about AIDS medication trials on children, which was subsequently the focus of a correction by the corporation for editorial breaches.
Last month, the political figure called on the CDC to change its longstanding position that there is no causal relationship between immunizations and autism. This supposed link is repeated in the documentary, despite a fresh analysis from the WHO reiterating no evidence has been found.
An Earlier Statement of Advocacy
Differing from the documentary's message, Neeson has in the past shown clear advocacy for vaccines in his role as a Unicef global ambassador.
In 2022, he referred to vaccines as "an incredible achievement," stating that "The discourse about vaccines in lately has forgotten how much good they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest collective achievements in history."
The documentary ends with Neeson's script proclaiming, "This is not the conclusion of our narrative. This is the beginning of a new chapter."
