A Pig's Tale: Pig Named Six Seven Pardoned by Miami-Dade Leader.
It might not have been at the equivalent scale as granting clemency to festive fowl, but the mayor of Miami-Dade conducted a Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a swine named Six Seven.
Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.
“The swine has done no wrong. Clemency is justified for her. She has committed zero crimes,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with inescapable allusions to the extraordinary and sizable number of pardons issued from the start of the commencement of a second term in office.
“Unless you count eating six or seven apples per day,” she went on. “I hope she experiences a long and happy life without fear.”
The gathering, either celebrating or rejecting the region’s Hispanic tradition of eating roast pork during the holidays, was created to emulate the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.
The pig, contributed by a first responder, was given its name from the popular vernacular phrase of young people exclaiming “6-7” – originating from a rap song lyric – often without clear purpose. The phrase became so pervasive that a leading lexicon site recently named “6-7” its 2025 word of the year.
A Peaceful Retirement
This particular pig is now destined to live out its days at a rural sanctuary “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the event’s official press release.
“This swine clemency has become one of our favorite ways to open the holiday season,” said the cafe owner, in a particularly upbeat message.
“It captures the spirit of Miami: vibrant, varied, and rooted in traditions that bring people together. Annually, we are delighted to mark culture and compassion in a way only Miami can.”
Attendees enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach croquetas and cafecito as they toasted the swine's new lease on life.
